About Us

Arcana Obscura is a library and research facility, dedicated to finding people and objects that exist on the fringes of society. Using both books and artifacts, the staff of the library are dedicated to helping those who need it.The collection includes a wide variety of tomes, from mundane topics such as cooking and herbology, to specific magical practices, and even magical books that may have other properties.

RULES

The library is an immersive, 18+ RP environment. No ERP will be allowed on the premises. Adult themes, such as violence and discussions of sex and sexuality may be present. If you feel a need to explore darker themes than that, please keep it to a party chat or tells.We do have a way to share codes. No nudity is allowed in the venue, and please keep outfits tasteful.If you agree, please click next to find the magic shell.

Anyone who breaks the rules will recieve a single warning, after which they will be removed from the venue and shell

1) The normal stuff
No bigotry, no name calling, try your best to not talk shit. Don't be a dick2) Banned topics:
We're friends, we support each other, but to keep things friendly there's some topics we'd like to avoid that include politics, ideology, and world events that involve those two things. We want this to be a place where people can not have to worry about that kind of thing.3) No OOC drama
We all play characters that have their own stories, and tensions between characters can rise. All drama is IC only- Out of Character name calling, arguing, shit flinging, and passive aggression is not tolerated.3) If you have an issue, please speak up.
This community was made to tell, and help other people tell, their stories. If you feel like you aren't being respected in that way, please let any of the mods know.4) No Main Character Syndrome.
We all play the main characters of our own stories. As such, the Library is here to provide a backdrop for ALL of our stories. No one person here is the focus. And if you have concerns, refer to rule 1: Be Civil! We can address things, I promise.5) Please respect someone's DM tag
As we have people in here from all places and this is an open server, please check the roles of someone before you DM them, and ask them if they have that role.

Some qualities we're looking for:

Lore bending is finding ways to explain abilities and plot beats in ways that may fit within the estabilished fiction.Lore Breaking is outright ignoring the game world and fiction to write something new or contradictory into it.

The Library doesn't always have an ongoing storyline. We're looking for people willing to participate in other's character stories, or write their own. While I want to make sure that people are having a good time, ultimately you are responsible for your own enjoyment.

If you wish to join the FC, you do not have to do so In-game. There are a variety of reasons why one might not be able to. We have a CWLS that is shared with the community, and a private FC only Discord Channel that you would have access to. But the libraries community is there on the Discord, and we may be less willing to invite you if you are not willing to participate

You do not need to be a part of the FC to be involved in the community, and you do not need to be on Mateus to be considered a part of the FC.You don't need to 'work' on the nights our venue is open, though you are welcome to.Arcana Obscura is a fun place to write stories, and not a place I wish for you to feel obligation to.
